A summer night boys’ 100 meter run on a track?
Two track stars from Hope College’s track team? Sunflower seeds? Oranges and Gatorade? Guinness World Book of Records? Chinese food? Starting blocks?
What better way to meet and talk about Jason Reynold’s Ghost?
We were delighted to have Boone and Nicholai join our group to teach us more about sprinting. We ran laps, practiced using starting blocks, and raced each other. Even the moms participated!
Boone and Nicholai led our discussion about the book and we got to cover lots of different topics raised in the book: teamwork, balancing sports and school, friendship, courage, honesty, and hard work. It was so fun to have them join us – we learned a lot from both of them! Thanks Boone and Nicholai!
“You can’t run away from who you are, but what you can do is run toward who you want to be.”
Thanks all for yet another EPIC book club! We can’t wait to read Jason Reynold’s next book in the series: Patina (coming out in August 2017).
