Sushi, puppets, talking around a firepit, and playing with a samurai sword all contributed to yet another wonderful book club meeting!
For August, we read The Master Puppeteer by Katherine Paterson. Though Paterson is one of my favorite authors, I hadn’t yet read this book (first published in 1975) but am so glad that Sonya Snyder recommended it. It took the boys and I quite awhile to get into it (I’m sure that my mispronunciation of all the Japanese names didn’t help!), but, once we did, we couldn’t stop reading it (which was a good thing because we finished the book a mere two hours before our book club!).
The pictures below show some of the fun we had (a special thanks to my neighbor Elaine Tanis for lending me so many neat Japanese artifacts!):
Looking forward to our next book!
